| Headline: | Latest edition of ICT Update published - ICTs and Urban Agriculture |
| Description: | The latest issue of ICT Update has just been published. ICT Update, (http://ictupdate.cta.int), is a bimonthly printed bulletin, web magazine, and accompanying email newsletter focusing on the use of information and communication technologies in agriculture in developing countries. It is published in English and French, by CTA (Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation) in Wageningen in the Netherlands. Each issue focuses on a specific theme and the latest issue has just been published. This edition’s theme is ‘Urban Agriculture’. It’s the first publication that we know of to look at information technologies in urban agriculture in developing countries. In it, we look at how municipalities in the global South are using GIS and GPS to map the extent of urban agriculture; how Kigali and Rome city farmers are experimenting with 'e-procurement' and 'e-diplomacy'; and the use of that venerable old ICT - radio - by Havana's urban agriculturalists to transmit post-harvest food preservation techniques. |
